Welder

The Welder, under moderate supervision, lays out, fits and welds fabricated stainless steel and aluminum fixtures. Measures and marks locations for metal components on assembly table following blueprints/drawings. Verifies position of metal components in assembly using straight edge, combination square and rule.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Mig, Tig and Flux Cored welding with ability to read and interpret shop drawings.

  • Weld in vertical, flat, horizontal or overhead positions.

  • Use basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to verify proper weld application and quality of weldments.

  • Examines work piece for defects and ensures conformance with specifications.

  • Prep and finish metal components by grinding or sanding.

  • Operate material handling equipment, crane/hoist.

  • Responsible for movement of material or product and proper storage

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in a non-climate controlled metal fabrication environment, with frequent standing, twisting, bending, and stooping in and around metal fabricated parts.

  • Frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of 50 pounds.

  • Requires sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate production equipment safely.

  • Able to work overtime and/or weekends as scheduled.

Full - Time, $18 - $25 per hour

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.

  • Previous education or minimum of one year working in a metal fab manufacturing environment.

  • Experience using shop drawings and sketches to assist in building and fabricating sheet metal structures is preferred. 

  • Fab shop and welding experience 

  • Capable of performing standard measurements. Good shop math skills. Mechanical aptitude.

  • Understands basic procedure of voltage and amp settings for given requirements.

  • Must be physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, protective apron and/or leather attire, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe shoes.
